Health-E Illinois - Outreach

Our library remains dedicated to the adding and maintaining of the Health-E Illinois database. In September 2007, Jean Gudenas became the new co-project manager and is currently implementing a year-long auditing strategy for over 10,000 records. Mary Klatt remains as the other co-project manager and is continuing to promote outreach and collaboration programs with other libraries. During late 2007, both Mary and Jean represented the Health-E Illinois project at several conferences and are now exploring future participation opportunities. And with the arrival of 2008, the team looks forward to expanding and promoting of Health-E Illinois.

In addition to the fantastic staff that takes time from their busy days to audit, we welcome William Haverson and Nadia Danford to the team. Both have already demonstrated an instinct for auditing, which may or may not be a blessing! So far, over 3000 records have been audited since October, averaging 1000 records a month. With the additional support, the first auditing process should be completed well before the end of the year.

Also, as part of the outreach goals, there has been discussion of a possible collaboration between Loyola and the Maywood Public Library. Creating a relationship with a public library will help raise public awareness of Go Local and Health-E Illinois, so the team is very excited to work with Maywood and expand the promotion of Go Local.

Health-E Illinois Blog

The Health-E Illinois staff developed a new and information blog. This blog will have Health-E Illinois news as well as consumer health information, news from the National Library of Medicine and other governmental agency.
