Feeling stressed from the weather, work or your daily routine? Then the Stress-related disorders sourcebook (REF QZ 39 S915 2007) may be just the resource you need. Written for the consumer, this volume discusses the many types of stress and stress-related disorders. Information on management techniques and a directory of resources is also included.
To gain a different perspective on treating stress or other ailments, the Gale encyclopedia of alternative medicine (REF WB 13 G150 2005) is the go-to source for alternative therapies and herbal remedies. This comprehensive work complements, but is not a substitute for, consultation with your healthcare provider.
With the first crop of baby-boomers beginning to retire and with many living well into their eighties or nineties, The Encyclopedia of aging (REF WT 13 E56 2006) is a good source on “… terms, concepts, and issues related to the lives of older adults, as well as … coverage of the many new programs and services for the elderly” (Book jacket).
Finally, the Handbook of vitamins (REF QU 39 H236 2007) is written from a more scientific viewpoint. The focus is on the “… chemical, physiological, and nutrition relationships … for all recognized vitamins” (preface, p. vii). It is written for a diverse audience including basic scientists, clinicians and others interested in gaining a better understanding of vitamin function.
These resources are all located in the reference collection on the Library’s main level. |
