Through a cooperative arrangement with the University Libraries, the Health Sciences Library now has a site license to RefWorks.
Unlike EndNote, a similar product, RefWorks is web-based and can be used to manage your references, share them with your colleagues, as well as format papers and bibliographies quickly and easily. RefWorks is: -Easy to use -No Special Software is required -Accessible anytime, nearly anywhere -Compatible with multiple platforms including Windows, Mac and Unix -RefShare makes it easy to share bibliographic references with colleagues at Loyola and globally with any researcher having Internet access -Compatible with online resources; easy to import references from most major online databases and the library online catalog -Updated automatically (No need for user to re-load software)
RefWorks allows you to directly download citations from online databases such as PubMed and Ovid Medline or add references manually. The most valuable aspect though is how you can insert references into Word or WordPerfect documents and automatically create bibliographies for hundreds of journal styles. These journal styles are established based on the journals’ instructions to authors. And you can easily change the bibliography format by just choosing another journal style. You can create a bibliography according to the instructions for JAMA and then, if needed, easily reformat it according to the format for the journal Science.
More information on RefWorks is available at: http://refworks.com/content/path_manage/factsheets/RefWorks_Factsheet_English.pdf
If you are just getting started or want to learn more abut RefWorks sign up for one of the Library's Refworks E-Learning classes, schedules are posted through E-Learning. You can also use the Quick Start Guide and Importing Tips for general instructions. Remote access is available with Archer access.
Refworks support is provided by Donald Nagolski (dnagols@lumc.edu, 6-5308) and Jeanne Sadlik (jsadlik@lumc.edu, 6-5304) |
