What is Health-E Illinois?
Top

Health-E Illinois is a cooperative project by Illinois' librarians to create a database of local health resources. This database will be integrated with MedlinePlus' health information website allowing users searching for health information to immediately find related health services in their area.

How the database is created
Top

 Step 1: Locate Information

Librarians indentify directories or individual healthcare sites of assigned services to be added to Health-E Illinois. To avoid duplication of efforts seekers consult the following list:
   Services Covered Directory

 Step 2: Submit Information

Once Identified, there are 3 methods to transfer the site information into the database:
   Online Form (Single Location)
   Spreadsheet (Multiple Locations)

 Step 3: Format information

Data Entry teams at Loyola will format information taken through the online form. Participants can volunteer to format resources by contacting the project at GoLocal@lumc.edu.

 Step 4: Upload

Formatted spreadsheets are uploaded into the database. Duplication, format, and broken link errors are resolved by the Health-E Illinois project team at Loyola.

 Step 5: Assign Headings

New entries in the database are assigned the service and topic terms that make end-user searching possible. Librarian participants are encouraged to contact us to participate in this process.

 Step 6: Completed Record

The healtchcare site record(s) are set to viewable and can be found by Illinois' healthcare consumers through the Health-E Illinois Go-Local database.
