Borrowing Privileges All persons affiliated with Loyola University of Chicago are authorized borrowers. A current barcoded Medical Center or Loyola University I.D. serves as your Library card and must be presented in order to charge out Library materials. Loan Periods Materials Not on Shelf The library catalog, Pegasus, indicates the status of circulating materials. Materials designated not checked out should be on the shelf. However, they may also be temporarily located on the sorting shelves near the Circulation Desk or in the photocopy areas. Circulation staff will aid with the location of missing materials. Holds A hold may be placed on items which are checked out. Holds may be placed in person at the Circulation Desk or online by filling out the hold form . Patrons are notified as soon as the item is returned. The item is held at the Circulation Desk for three days. Book Drops Library books can be dropped in the book drop located in the hallway outside the library or in the book slot in the Circulation Desk. The hallway bookdrop is open every day, all day. Overdues Fines are not charged for overdue books. Borrowers who fail to return overdue Library materials will be billed for the replacement cost of the materials plus a processing charge for each item. As of the billing date, Library privileges will be suspended and records encumbered. Refunds will not be made for Library materials returned after the bill has been paid. Bills Charges for lost books can be paid at the Circulation Desk. Cash or checks are accepted in the exact amount only. |
