Use of the Library’s Public computers is
restricted to Loyola University faculty, students, staff, and
other authorized users. The function of the Library’s
computers is to provide access to research databases and other
resources that support the research needs of our primary users.
Unaffiliated users who come to the library are not allowed to
use Library computers due to restrictions in the software licensing
agreements.
Appropriate uses of workstations include:
· Searching biomedical or health-related databases
· Searching the Internet for health-related topics
· Other academic research
Any use not specifically permitted above is inappropriate use.
Examples include:
· Uses which would constitute an abuse of resources
or which would compromise other users’ ability to use
the system.
· Users who are receiving or viewing inappropriate material
· Illegal uses
· Any use which violates copyright or trademarks
· Harassment
· Personal commercial activities
· Hacking
· Playing games
The Library reserves the right to displace members of the public
from workstations when they are needed by primary users or when
the workstations are not being used to locate health or academic
information.
The Library reserves the right to remove any person from a
workstation who Library staff has a reasonable belief is violating
University or Library policy.
The Library reserves the right to call Medical Center Security
to remove anyone who violates the computer use policy or violates
University or Library policy.
